The purpose of this course is to provide clinicians with a framework for the evaluation and treatment of the overhead thrower. Upon completion participants will be able to perform a comprehensive assessment of baseball players with considerations for age and skeletal maturity.
It will provide you with a strong foundation to assess proper throwing mechanics and the ability to make adjustments as needed to prevent injury. You will be able to reach out in your communities to market assessments of pitching mechanics and specialized care for the overhead throwing athlete as well as communicate effectively with local coaches to promote your practice.

Course Objectives
• Describe the relevant anatomy and biomechanics of the overhead throwing athlete that are most frequently involved in common pathologies.
• Identify the six phases of baseball pitching and how to breakdown each phase.
• Demonstrate examination techniques and assessment measures for the OH throwing athlete.
- Recognize the importance of comprehensive care in post-surgical management of elbow and shoulder dysfunction in the overhead throwing athlete.
- Develop a comprehensive evidence-based plan of care strategy for the baseball player including but not limited to manual techniques, modalities, therapeutic exercise and neuromuscular rehabilitation.
- Demonstrate a safe return to play progression for baseball players.
