This course focuses on the comprehensive
evaluation and management of the lumbar spine.
Clinical reasoning, differential diagnosis and
evidence-based practice with a practical
approach will be presented throughout the
coursework. Eclectic and historical approaches
will be incorporated into the course. The course
will utilize thrust, non-thrust, soft tissue, and exercise
techniques. This is a hands-on, lab-intensive course
with supervised practice and case-based
application.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
-Identify pertinent aspects of the Lumbar spine anatomy and its relationship in
accurately performing various manual techniques.
-Perform a comprehensive lumbar evaluation identifying any red or yellow flags
that require referral, identifying any precautions, contraindications, and criteria
of manual therapy techniques for the Lumbar spine.
-Design a comprehensive and evidence- based treatment plan of care for
patient with lumbar spine dysfunction including appropriate intervention
-Demonstrate interventions including thrust, non-thrust, soft-tissue, neural
mobilizations, PROM techniques, and exercise intervention for the lumbar spine
