This one-hour self-study continuing education course will focus on teaching clinicians about patients dealing with chronic pain. Explore the signs of chronic pain, what chronic pain really is, the reasons for the chronic pain, and how to treat a patient with chronic pain. Hear about the patient that is experiencing her pains, while focusing on risk factors that show this person is a candidate for pain neuroscience education (PNE). Discover the role the nervous system has to play on chronic pain with two key indicators of chronic pain, i.e; fear and catastrophization. Learners will also gain an understanding of the diagnoses for chronic pain and how all of them can be treated differently than typical treatment, and why starting someone off with PNE can help open up their beliefs to start moving more. Finally, learners will explore the treatment approach and discuss how the patient is doing through PNE.
