This course focuses on evidence-based exercise prescription and progression. Clinical reasoning and evidence will be utilized to determine exercise prescription parameters keeping FITTSBALL in mind. Variables to progress exercises will be discussed. This course will utilize didactic teaching, demonstration and teach back approaches to enhance understanding. Case studies will be presented to further enhance clinical application of concepts learned during the course. Small group lab activities will be employed to encourage introspection, creativity and application of concepts learnt throughout the weekend. Curriculum will be divided into specific patient populations e.g. geriatric, athletic rehab, and on regions while incorporating regional interdependence approach for comprehensive rehab.

Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course learners will be able to:
- Describe the principles behind the prescription and progression of therapeutic exercises
- List considerations for safe exercise prescription
- Describe variables of exercise prescription to target strength/endurance/power.
- Apply principles of tissue healing to identify appropriate exercises for the stage of healing
- Demonstrate 3-5 exercises for each muscle group with incremental load/difficulty.
- Collaborate as a small group to develop an effective exercise program with the end goal of addressing patient-specific functional goals.
- Demonstrate exercises to enhance carry over effects of manual therapy techniques utilized during the session
- Determine exercise progression in presence of pain
- List various exercises under symptom modulation, movement control and functional optimization categories
