This course aims to educate licensed therapists and healthcare professionals on the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of common injuries affecting the elbow, forearm, and wrist. The course will enable the clinician to problem solve through various forearm and wrist injuries, assess movement patterns, and utilize various rehabilitation techniques to maximize function after injury.
Target Audience: PTs, PTAs, OTs, COTAs, ATCs
Instructional Level: Beginners
Instructional Methods: Hands-on lab, lecture with Q&A, group discussion, patient cases, evidence review. This is a live satellite course.

Course Rationale:
This course unpacks a comprehensive and evidence-based approach to examination/evaluation of common hand and digit pathology including but not limited to fractures, tendon/ligament injury. Strategies for managing said conditions in the toddler to adult populations will be reviewed via didactic lecture/lab format over this 2-day course.
Course Objectives:
At the completion of this course, the participants will be able to: Describe the musculoskeletal structures of the upper extremity with focus on elbow, forearm and wrist. Identify clinically significant ligamentous structures, and pertinent neurovascular structures. Identify common signs and symptoms associated with forearm and wrist dysfunction. Utilize provocative testing to better evaluate forearm and wrist conditions. Apply clinical reasoning skills by assessing differential diagnoses. Understand differences in conservative treatment vs. postoperative treatment. Develop an evidenced-based comprehensive plan of care including but not limited to therapeutic exercise, activities, NMR, and manual therapy. Incorporate activity modifications with ADLs/ IADLs to better educate the target population to better understand their diagnosis and rehabilitation
