This live, hands-one course will educate licensed therapists about the evaluation and treatment of orthopaedic disorders and considerations during pregnancy. Participants will be presented with common musculoskeletal impairments, evaluation and treatment procedures as well as be educated on anatomical and physiologic changes.
Target Audience: PTs, PTAs, OTs, COTAs, ATCs
Instructional Level: Beginners
Instructional Methods: Hands-on lab, lecture with Q&A, group discussion, patient cases, evidence review. This is a live satellite course.
Course Completion Requirements: must attend the entire 1-day course and pass a post course exam.

Course Rationale:
The purpose of this course is to educate clinicians on orthopaedic considerations during pregnancy. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to perform a thorough evaluation and design a comprehensive treatment plan.
Course Objectives
- Implement precautions/contraindications of an evaluation and treatment of the pregnant patient
- Describe the anatomical and physiological changes that occur with pregnancy
- Perform an examination/initial evaluation of a pregnant patient with common orthopedic impairment or musculoskeletal dysfunction and/or pain
- Develop an evidence based plan of care for the pregnant patient.
- Perform selected manual treatment techniques and interventions for the pregnant patient.
- Design an appropriate exercise plan, including wellness.
- Be familiar with recommendations and resources for labor/post-partum
- Develop a community outreach program and implement methods for integrating into practice.
