This course will explore the post-partum period through focused education on post-partum topics with an emphasis on exploring orthopedic pain, mobility dysfunction, and rehabilitative treatment methods. On the conclusion of this course, rehabilitative clinicians will be able to effectively treat patients from this population from the initial evaluation, through treatment, to discharge, with measurable improvement in their symptoms.

Instructional Level: Beginners
Instructional Methods: Hands-on lab, lecture with Q&A, group discussion, patient cases, evidence review. This is a live satellite course.

Course Rationale:
The purpose of this course is to educate clinicians on orthopaedic considerations during the post partum periods Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to perform a thorough evaluation and design a comprehensive treatment plan.
Course Objectives
- Educate patients on the options for labor and delivery, on the birthing process, and on what to expect in the immediate post-partum period
- Complete an evaluation and subjective assessment for the post-partum patient
- Assess common post-partum conditions, complete orthopedic measures, complete functional assessments, and perform post-partum specific screenings
- Develop an effective treatment plan that is focused on functional goals
- Effectively perform treatment methods for low back and pelvic girdle pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, diastasis recti, thoracic dysfunction, c-section recovery, visceral treatment, and exercise progression
