


This one-hour self-study continuing education course will focus on youth injuries in baseball and overhead sports. The goal of this presentation is to teach clinicians about the anatomy, pathophysiology, surgical interventions, and rehabilitation concepts that are common in youth overhead athletes.

- Describe the anatomy, pathophysiology involved in youth elbow and shoulder injuries in baseball and other OH sports
- Explain the causes, treatment, risk factors and prevention of little league elbow and shoulder
- Compare and contrast the considerations and concerns of specialization vs diversification of sports in youth
- Understand recommended published or implemented guidelines and rules for prevention of youth pitching injuries
- Discuss the implications of GIRD
- Describe the mechanics of each phase of pitching and the stresses placed on the shoulder anatomy
